A WOOFER's account

Saturday, 22nd of March 2014.
I have been here with Ryo at his farm since Thursday and it's been just wonderful. The first two days the weather was rather clouded and it snowed quite heavily the whole of yesterday, so that this morning the streets and everything were completely snowed in. Ryo, the amazing and crazy guy, who always gets up at least 1 or 2 hours in the morning before me, couldn't even get to the farm because of all the snow. So when I got up at six something we quickly had breakfast and then were off to te farm to shovel the greenhouses free. If it hadn't been for a nice neighbour with his tractor clearing the street we wouldn't have gotten to the farm at all. Lucky.
At the farm we got to shoveling. Afterwards Ryo tended to the plants, watering them and opening the greenhouses' "windows" to regulate the temperature. Over the past two days he and I had weeded the ground in one of the greenhouses and seeded some special Spinach (see prior posts), two kinds of greens, Turnips, Mustard and Rucola. Successful.
Other than that, today was a very beautiful day with stunning views and a clear sky until about 4pm. Nice enough it's cleared up again now, so that we can see the whole night sky with it's mirrage of stars and constellations.
After a successful day of work we went to a great onsen and did some serious relaxing. Perfect.
Following that, we just had some delicious dinner. Nabe. Exactly what we need after the hot bath.

Thanks Ryo for having me here near Memuro at your farm. I am enjoying it a lot. Wish I could stay longer, but I will just make the most of the time that I have here with you, Pasely and Maito (if you write it that way)
